Whale Watching in Icy Strait, Alaska
A Unique Experience Come join Captain Joardan on a fun, unforgettable whale watching tour! You will see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife while exploring the waters of Icy Strait. We will pick you up right at the cruise ship port and take a quick 5 min drive into Hoonah, AK. Captain Joardan is a lifelong Alaskan resident and has been a commercial fisherman for more than 20 years. Your tour will be on our brand new, custom built catamaran. Set up similary to our previous boat, Thor Too. We will cater to small group tours, only taking a maximum of 14 passengers. The new boat will have a full walk-around deck, just like the Thor Too, for viewing whales and wildlife from all angles!
Small Groups We will cater to smaller groups making your time a more intimate and personal experience. There is comfortable bucket seating, big windows, and a large deck. You’ll be able to walk around the entire boat to get the best views possible. There is a bathroom on board and light snacks will be provided.
What You Can Expect on our Hoonah Whale Tours
Each tour on our brand new, custom built catamaran is unique. We often times see the humpback whales bubble net feeding, sometimes breaching, and up close views while maintaining the required distance. We offer a small-group tour experience, only taking a maximum of 14 passengers. The knowledge of Captain Joardan ensures you will see whales! Our tour leaves from Hoonah, Alaska and will extend as far as Point Adolphus (19 miles, 30km) to find whales. Along the way we will see a variety of marine-life such as seals, sea otters, sea-lions, and marine birds. We may even see brown bears!
